I read this book to both my 8 year old and 4 year old daughters. They both loved the bright, bold colours and simple illustrations (not too ‘busy’). On most pages there is very little text and large pictures which I liked as it made reading and sounding the words easier for my younger daughter to follow and copy as she is learning to read. It didn’t put my older daughter off at all as she loved the illustrations.
The story is simple and the Bear is loveable and very cute. Both my children love Butt jokes so it wasn’t a surprise to me that they liked the book!
The repetitive narrative worked well and kept my children’s interest going, especially my youngest who has a very short attention span. My eldest could easily read the book by herself and has read it to her sister whilst they were laughing at the pictures and the bear getting them to dance! All in all a very good, funny children’s book.
