This large, colourful book just arrived on a Sunday, courtesy of Postman Pat in his red van.
I decided to read it straightaway as there are not many pages or words so it didn’t take long. I’m afraid the humour(?) was a bit lost on me. I’m sure it would be much better if I had a small child to read it to. I imagine they would enjoy shouting out the required response to the trigger words as instructed and jumping around and dancing. The pictures are very simplistic so not a lot to point out or discuss with the child you are reading it to. As a parent, I much preferred to read books like Topsy and Tim and Mister Men books to my 4 children. Definitely not a bedtime book as the book encourages the youngster to shout, jump and dance about. I haven’t read any of the other interactive picture books written by John Kane but I can see why they would be very popular with young (hyperactive?)children.
I will pass this book on to more of my nieces for them to read to their pre schoolers and will be interested to hear their views in due course.
