This book is great for children who are fans of mysteries and adventure stories. It reminded me of the traditional Enid Blyton novels of a mystery that only children see and can solve.

Robyn is a great protagonist, she is funny and independent and has a knack for getting into trouble. Sometimes because she’s doing exactly what she’s told not to, other times for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I thought placing her in the Pigeon house at Bletchley fitted perfectly for the character. She’s outdoorsy and loves nature and she can feel like a spy!

The mystery fits in well with the setting of Bletchley Park during World War Two. The place already is shrouded in secrecy so it blends together well. I think this will help children learn a little bit of the history of the place too.

I think this is at the higher age for readers of children’s novel, or the younger end of Middle Grade readers, but people of all ages can enjoy this book.
