Firstly, I really liked the cover of this book. The characters are in slight relief which helps them stand out and they instantly show a diversity that is refreshing for a story based in WW2.
Basing the tale at Bletchley Park has allowed the author to weave some historical fact together with this adventure/mystery tale. Children may not be familiar with names like Alan Turing but, hopefully, his inclusion will encourage curious kids to find out more.
The addition of a map, at the beginning, helps to bring the location to life and certainly adds to the story.
In essence we have three children with a mystery to solve and each with their own special set of skills. Very much like a modern, interesting version of The Famous Five but utilising characters that a modern audience can identify with. A great way to get children thinking about WW2 as well.
