I really enjoyed reading this story! There, I said it.

The novel centres around Robyn, a twelve year old, who has grown up in Bletchley Park. Her father works there as a driver, meaning the family has to follow. Originally she’s at school but when she’s not there, she spends all her time helping her father in the garages. She adores this time with him and they can read each other like a book.

But life at Bletchley was about to change. War begins. Life isn’t as they know it. Everything is different.

Robyn is assigned to help with the carrier pigeons that take various messages to the Allied forces. However, before any of that can happen, she has to sign the Official Secrets Act. She’s also forbidden from leaving Bletchley Park.

It becomes frantic, following the emotions and events of the war but there is this growing feeling that all is not well there and that things aren’t what they seem. Robyn becomes quite distressed. She enlists the helps of her friends Mary and Ned to see what they can find out. But none of them are quite prepared for what it leads to…

This book is perfect for YA readers and those who enjoy this genre. It’s really well written with great characters.
