Bletchley Park, 1939. Britain is at war. 12 year old Robyn has grown up in Bletchley Park spending her free time out of school helping her Dad in his garages and exploring. But the war brings changes. Fences, guards and now places are off limits. Robyn has to sign an Official Secrets Act and is sent to work helping care for the carrier pigeons.

But Robyn becomes convinced there's something sinister going on and with the help of her friends begins to investigate. Could there be a spy among the pigeons?

This was an exciting adventure story. I am interested in WWI and WWII fiction and read a lot aimed at both adults and children. Robyn is a fantastic protagonist. A plucky young girl who is not about to be told what to do. Maybe not the best role model, breaking plenty of rules along the way, but she is determined and brave.

An enjoyable book that’s bound to get children reading.
