This is a nice simple story about life during the war at Bletchley Park.

Robyn who already lives on the site as she is the daughter of the chauffeur discovers she is prohibited from leaving the site even to go to school after war has broken out and Bletchley Park becomes home to a new secret defence and code breakers.

At the age of 13 she is forced to sign the official secrets act and become an apprentice to the Carrier Pigeon section. Her two friends Mary an evacuee from Liverpool who Robyn knows from school and Ned the undertakers son set up the own spy ring when they grow suspicious of the man in charge.

Despite challenges along the way, the three are successful in solving scenarios that unexpectedly fall at their feet and they become hero’s.

The book is a nice introduction to some of the events and characters that worked at Bletchley Park during the war who were never fully recognised for what they achieved. The book will be popular with any young person who enjoys reading about historical events.
