Read this with my younger cousins and they absolutely adored it.

It is an extremely enjoyable, fast-moving story of three thirteen-year-old best friends, who join forces to uncover the reason for some rather strange occurrences at Bletchley Park during the early years of the Second World War. It is very reminiscent of the ‘Famous Five’ type of stories but with a more modern tone within the writing. Each of the main characters is unique and well rounded; Robyn as a bit of a nature-loving tomboy who wishes is to become an apprentice in her father’s garage, Mary as an evacuee from Liverpool who is intellectually bright and Ned, the son of a local undertaker but more anxious than either of the girls in the trio. It's clear that the author worked hard to not only avoid traditional stereotyping but to give characters traits that evoke aspirations within young readers!
