This book is well written and easy to read in the way it blends everyday life in countries such as Iraq Syria and Sudan with the complicated politics of the Middle East
The main thread is the legacy of the Iraq War on the region and the rise of the Arab Spring. For those people unacquainted with the affairs of the region it is an easilly understandable explanation of the politics of the region combined with a travel narrative through the region. There is the visit to the pyramids of Sudan -much more numerous than in Egypt and decapitated by an Italian searching for treasure.
A thought provoking and highly recommended book about the Middle East accessible to all. I will certainly buy this book and read it in its entirety.
