I was intrigued by what I had read in the First Look, and really enjoyed Emma Sky's style of writing, so I appreciated the opportunity to continue to read about her travels.

This is not a genre of book that I would often pick up, and I felt extremely ignorant about the subject matter- but reading it was like sitting down with a knowledgeable friend, who didn't patronise but explained, regularly setting events in context, which made me think, 'my goodness I was doing that then...I had no idea what was really going on in the Middle East.'

I loved her quirky asides and observational comments, with little titbits of facts which gave additional colour to what could have been just a travelogue. Equally she does not shy away from confronting and challenging issues.

I love to learn, and this book excited me as I feel that I have learned so much both politically and emotionally about the Middle East. The photos were a bonus!
