I tend to go for UK & Irish crime/thriller books and am a big fan of Mark Billingham, Peter Lovesey, john Harvey and especially Ian Rankin (Rebus) and Ken Bruen (Taylor). And many others, too numerous to list.
But having bought and read (and reread) just about all they have written, I am constantly looking for new authors. I was attracted to 'Little Bones' by Sam Blake when I found it in The Works in their '3 for £5' offer because it looked as though it fitted most of my likes.
But of course writing style, readability, a good plot, good characterisation all matter too.
I found that book to be very good; indeed, it was one of those that is difficult to put down and leave alone. At 390 pages it is a normal length, but I was left wanting more.
And so I searched abebooks and found more.
Not enough more, but I can always reread what I have...
