Then & Now
This is the story of Angie and her mum, Marilyn. The bulk of the First Impression deals with a 17 year old Marilyn and her desperation to get away from LA to attend college in New York. We also get to see a little of her daughter, Angie, but not too much for now.
Written with a good, solid flow the characters are distinct and their voices sing out from the page, clamouring for our attention as they tell their story. Although there is a plot, as there must be for a story to exist, this feels more like we are watcjing lives unfold and wrap around each other.
