In Search Of Us is a brilliantly told story in which seventeen year old Angie embarks on an emotional journey to discover the truth about her father and unravel her mothers secrets.
It becomes clear right from the beginning that Angie has been brought up in a life full of lies which has led her to have so many unanswered questions regarding her father. Why has her mum lied to her about her father all these years? Is her father still alive? What really happened to her father all those years ago?
The story has been written from two different perspectives. That of Angie at age seventeen but also from the perspective of Angies mother, Marilyn also at the age of seventeen. The author moves quite swiftly between the story of Angela in the here and now and that of Marilyn 18 years earlier when she first met Angie's father. The authors style of writing allows the upbringing of Marilyn and her life as a teenager, including her relationship with Angie's father, to be explored along side seventeen year old Angie's search for the truth.
I absolutely loved this book from start to finish and was very eager to find out the secrets of marilyn's past and how it all worked out for both Angie and Marilyn.
