I’ve not finished this book yet but I wanted to write a review as I am about half way and I am really loving it so far. It was the title that attracted me initially; it’s got a real summer vibe and the colours and pictures really remind me of LA/ America and going on a summer vacation. I also particularly like the hummingbirds on the front cover and there have been little hints about how these are going to be included in the story.
I have to admit that when the story switched to be from the daughter’s perspective I was really confused as the story starts in the past and then switches to the past. It does start to get clearer as you carry on reading though and then I started to appreciate the switch in tense and the insight it gave you into the characters.
