As a rule I don’t really enjoy short stories, I feel as thought they don’t give you enough time to become invested in the characters and the history. However this collection of tales gives a voice to those who are often unheard.

Chatora provides multiple points of view and gives voices to many people from his culture and place of origin, Zimbabwe.
There are eleven stories in the collection, some are shorter novella and vignette. Some feel more like an essay, others have more of a fable feel to them.

If you’re looking for a light and enjoyable read this is not the book for you. If you prefer fiction with a non-fiction edge, real-life experiences and points of view from minorities and repressed groups then you should read this book. Readers familiar with Andrew Chatora’s previous works will find this consistent with the tone of the author.
