I'm not sure what I expected from this book, but let me tell you, I wasn't expecting the levels of emotion it enticed from me.

All of these short stories highlight the discreet and not so discreet racism that occurs in society to this day. It also tells some stories of the struggles that people of Zimbabwe face within their own society too.

The last story about names really hit me hard. The thought that someone's name could affect their education, job prospects and way of life is ludicrous. It makes me sad to think that some beautifully unique names are hidden or replaced by traditional white names, just so an individual could have a fairer/ better way of life in Britain.

The writing and execution of this novel is incredible, I had to take my time to process it due to the intellectual writing, as much as the thought provoking nature of the stories.
