This book features a group of criminals who must band together to save their city! This is becoming a popular trend and I am here for them all! This was an entertaining read with compelling characters, interesting magic and some great action scenes.
I liked the setting of the city of Creije and the criminal con people called buskers who sell fake and weak magic in the form of elixirs and charms. Then there are the Crafters who have been in hiding for years and have their own natural powers of magic to draw from.
I liked the character dynamics as four criminals join forces to stop the spread of a new dark magic. None of them really trust each other but must work together if there is any hope of success. Wesley and Tavia were my two favourite characters and I enjoyed their complex relationship and history.
I really loved the ending as it opens up some really exciting possibilities for the sequel and I can't wait to read it! I'll definitely be reading the author's other book, To Kill A Kingdom in the near future.
