In the Kingdom of Creije, new magic is banned and watered down versions are sold like drugs on side streets. But there is a new 'drug' hitting the streets, one that is different from the rest, one that is dangerous and most worryingly, one that is 'new'.
This novel is told from the points of view of four people within Creije's underworld, Tavia, Wesley, Karam and Saxony. It is Wesley's boss who has created the new magic and it is Wesley who tries to stop it, making a deal with the authorities which will mean he can take his boss' place.
I absolutely adored this novel, especially the character Wesley. You are never sure whether it is okay to like him as a person or not. I felt I was constantly battling over whether he was a good or bad guy in the beginning. I can't wait to read the next novel.
