This is a review of the first two chapters as I'm unable to submit a first impression, however I feel they already deserve a thorough review rather than just a short mention. I love a fantasy book with a unique take on magic. I'm a huge fan of the Harry Potter series, Tolkien's work, Sebastian de Castel's Spellslinger series and the unfortunately retracted Girl of Myth and Legend. However, it seems it's difficult for new authors to take on a unique perspective on magic without seemingly recreating the work of other authors. This book, however, has a fantastic feel to it with a novel take on white and black magic, abuse of young people to deal it in behalf of 'gag leaders', almost likening it to drugs. I will be purchasing this book, alongside the author's other book 'to kill a kingdom', which I was positively surprised was also written by her.
