Oh I so wanted to love this book after To Kill A Kingdom but I just didn't care.
Into the Crooked Place jumps right into the story and world with its ensemble cast but I kept finding myself lost. The made up words, the random mentions of places and cultures. It felt like I should know more. I'm someone who generally loves jumping straight in but this just wasn't attention grabbing enough.
The author's world building seemed like it could be rich and her writing was great but it wasn't enough for me. It just felt too similar to other books and thats such a shame as it sounded special. That being said I can think of other people to hand my copy to. People who will probably love the book more than me.
But this book sadly wasn't as good as I'd hoped.
