This book is a good read for escapism. The book follows four titular characters, all with their own strengths and weaknesses.
We follow these four characters as they go on a journey to help save their city.
The book is a wonderful fantasy novel including magic and fantasy settings. I really enjoyed reading about the characters different stories, for example, we first meet Tavia in the market selling potions, we meet Wesley her underboss, A leader who has killed many people for his position, we also meet Saxony with an exciting secret, as well as Karam, A character with a feisty spirit who we meet in the fighting room. I loved reading about these characters different strengths as they were all very unique but created a cool group.
The pacing and writing are both good and it was a fun read, however the characters were very 2d, meaning that you would have read about characters exactly like them in any other ya book. The book also falls at the bottom of the ya genre. And so I would recommend it to younger readers. Over all it was a fun read but it wasn’t extremely gripping.
