I'll admit due to my love of To Kill a Kingdom, I had high expectations for Into The Crooked Place and I'm not sure it quite lived up to them. To begin with I didn't instantly become hooked on this novel, from the first page there was huge Six of Crows vibes and I really felt like it could be a carbon copy. Then as we began to learn more about the magic in the story it started to feel more unique and original.
I love multiple POVs so I really enjoyed reading sections of this book in the perspectives of different characters, they all added something new and intriguing to the story.
I enjoy Alexandra Christo's writing, there's something quite effortless about it. And I absolutely adore the UK cover of this book.
My expectations were high but I think this was a fairly decent second novel. I'm excited for the sequel.
