I was hooked from the first page, which let me tell you does not happen often. It tends to take me a while to get into a book, especially the characters. This book immediately portrays the protagonist in ways i love. The protagonist is a female called Tavia, right away she showed her confidence in her actions and in her speach. She is known to tell the future, like a fortune teller but she is see's it through a riddle. This one particular time the riddle shocks Tavia causing her to drop the orb. It strays away from fairytale magic that you hear about in childrens story books, in the first few pages it is actually said that it is like math which i think shows how is differs in everybody and interchanges between easy and hard. I recommend this book to anybody who wants to get back into reading after perhaps a break as it is definitely one of the most hooking reads i have read.
