It started out very well and I immediately loved Tavia and the concept of magic in the book. Tavia's a busker and she sells watered-down magic with style. More tricks than actual magic. At first, she seems smart and I was interested in learning more about her but it quickly becomes clear that her character isn't developed beyond the first impression. In fact, all the characters are lacking in their development. Four main characters point of views are too much for one book and because of this, it feels like there is no mystery to any one character. I already understand the other characters' motives so I'm never really worried about betrayals. If it had been just one character's point of view, it would have been a much more enjoyable read.
