I first picked up this book because I had read "To Kill A Kingdom" by the same author- Alexandra Christo, and I really enjoyed it. The cover is quite mysterious, looks similar to "We Both Die At The End" by Adam Silvera, both portraying a city line at night.

As for the book itself, I really liked it. It exceeded my expectations. Alexandra Christo's writing style is nice, detailed but not too complicated. It makes for an engaging read. I'll admit, I thought that the beginning was a little slow, but after the first few chapters, it really took off. I felt like I couldn't put it down, as if I were in the story. I admire the author for her storytelling abilities.

The book is filled with magic, adventures, and loveable characters that are easy to connect with. Tavia, who sells magic potions on the market, Wesley, who's Tavia's enforcer, and Karam, a warrior who fights in the pit for cash.

Overall, I'd completely recommend to anyone who wants a good adventure.
