I was really captured after the first few chapters. The characters were multi layered and had varying motives which were captivating and moved the story along. I found the setting of this other world, where magic is only partially accepted, easy to escape into and suspend disbelief. The threat of new magic was an interesting story curve, as el as a bit of mystery behind it.
The descriptions of how magic affected the different characters was believable and exciting - unsure of where it might take you next. This is a definite choice for a lover of fantasy and mystery.
