I really enjoyed this book. Christo's atmosphere and world building is fantastic. You can really get lost in the world she creates and she doesn't dump information on you in massive chunks. She is also good at writing believable layered characters and their relationships. The plot was fairly engaging but occasionally predictable and a bit slow in the middle but the interesting world and characters more than made up for it. Christo is also good at starting novels because you're thrown into the story and I was immediately gripped. I would have liked to see more in Creije as the city and the way it is run we're particularly fascinating to me. Creije felt like a character in itself but the other settings weren't quite as well fleshed out. The finale was epic and action packed and I definitely want to read the sequel. Overall, I recommend this book if you're looking for a fun magical time.
