I went into this story not knowing too much and I'm glad that I did as it surprised me in a really good way. I adored the characters who all had compelling and distinct personalities. Wesley was my favourite, which isn't much of a surprise as I enjoy morally grey characters with tragic backgrounds. I did get a slight Six of Crows vibes with the gang and felt that Wesley and Kaz were somewhat similar but other than that they're two different books. Funnily enough, I read Crooked Kingdom while reading this so that is probably why I draw the connection between the two but either way I couldn't put this down! I hate that I have to wait who knows how long for the sequel as it ended on a cliff hanger. The world is so complex and intricate and I loved the magic system that was in place. Highly recommend it!
