"Into the crooked place", the name alone sounds interesting enough. The design on the book cover is colourful and appealing as well. The storyline is well written and runs smoothly. The story is compelling as it has set emphasis how dark magic or new magic is banned/illegal. It sets a time frame before something big is going to happen by stating at eighteen years old they have two choices. It really reads like a world the main protagonist doesn't want to be in but is stuck in. And the only truly beneficial thing in her life is her magic. She comes across confident and as being able to hold her own ground which is always a crowd pleaser, like when she sold the vial she wasn't certain of to the man that treated her like nothing more than an object to be sold. I would love to find out where this story goes after this chapter. I had no issue getting into the story.
