It took me a little while to get into this but I think because I had read so many fantasy books lately that turned out to be YA fantasy that I was expecting more of the same. But as I read on I was impressed by how well the book was written and how well the world had been developed. The author knows the characters and settings and doesn't feel the need to prove it to you, the story just unfolds and it's a really good read.
I loved that it wasn't first person, again I've read a lot of that lately so it was nice to have a change.
The description of magic in the book is great and again as with everything else was really well developed, which really allowed you to visualise what you were reading.
