Swapping semi rural Smithson for the brighter and seedier lights of Melbourne Detective Woodstock is struggling to fit into her new role in the big city. In many ways this is due to the impact her previous murder investigation back in Smithson has had on her both professionally and personally and she is now alone in Melbourne away from her son and his father.

It doesn't help that she is still feels for the murder victims whose demise she investigates whereas her other colleagues are more cynical in their approach to the victims they come across. So it is perhaps no surprise that she finds herself affected by the murder of a homeless man and feels the need to get to the bottom of who killed him and why. Is this a one of incident or the start of a spate of murders within the homeless community of Melbourne?
