Gritty Australian Thriller
There is a murder, enter the detective, the game is afoot.
The protagonist is Gemma Woodstock, a detective with many character traits which have been associated with male detectives. Carrying around a cart load of guilt for the perception of failed relationships, particularly with her son.
Yes it’s typical for detectives to be this way in novels, but it’s written in a way that gives a strong image of who Gemma is, also the other characters are not just side pieces, they really add their egos into the mix.
A solid start to this book, I hope the rest flows so well. Definitely worth a read.
