So, I have not yet read anything by this author, but the book appeared to be the sort of thing I would like.
It is a story told in the first person, by a female police detective and mother to one child. The opening pages set the scene of the book, which is a case that the detective is working on at work. It is the murder of a homeless person. From the small preview that I read, I noted the use of alliteration and descriptive language, to help the reader visualise some details of the murder through the eyes of the detective. I’m hoping that this book continues in the fashion of which it begins and does not become like a police procedural manual to read. I’m interested to see how the detective balances the two aspects of her life.
