I found it very easy to get into this book and the momentum continued throughout, a real page turner. I’m not sure whether I liked the main character Gemma Woodstock or not however she was well written and a complex personality. The story kept you wondering who the murderer was throughout although I did have some suspicions early on that proved accurate although only partly.

I haven’t read Sarah Bailey’s previous book The Dark Lake which might have improved my enjoyment of this book as there were references to it in terms of Gemma Woodstock’s past however you can still very much read this as a stand-alone. In fact I would like to read The Dark Lake now too and don’t feel too much into was given away to spoil it.

Overall this is a really well written mystery with strong characters and a solid plot, well recommended.
