Into the Night is a crime story set in Melbourne with a really engaging female lead character.
Having moved from a small town police force to Melbourne following the breakdown of her relationship ( and having to leave her young son behind) Gemma Woodstock is handed the biggest case of her career when a film star is murdered onset. The incident is filmed, but due to the number of zombies in the scene, the killer cannot easily be identified. Gemma and her colleagues face a battle to find who killed him, whilst also battling other problems in their personal lives.
Gemma is a strong female lead, and though I didn't instantly warm to her, I grew to like her more as the book went on. The writing is sharp, and the plot moves along at a good pace.
I'd be looking out for more books by this author.
