this book again was an amazing as a stand-alone and as a series. When I originally read this book I was amazed at it however I didnt quiet understand it and it took me a while to crash the concepts but I assume this is because I read this as a stand-alone and I hadn’t read the first book so I wasn’t able to sympathise with the character (for instance spoiler- why Gemma has left her son at just five) and many other stuff. And the lack of sympathy I had made it hard for me to understand why the characters acted a certain way.
So if you want to read this book I would say read the first book first so you also grasp the fantasy side of the story aswelll !
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves fantasy the author is amazing and so are her other books! It would be a nice gift to anyone who is starting to read as a first timer but even if you aren’t it would still be amazing
