Firstly, i love the title 'Into the night', it immediately sparks my interest and draws me to this book. Sarah Bailey describes the opening crime scene wonderfully. The cold, darkness, the flashing camera lights easily transports the reader directly into the awful crime scene alongside our main character Gemma Woodstock.. She manages to evoke a real sense of empathy for the old, homeless murder victim lying dead on the ground.
Gemma Woodstock appears to be a well-developed character whose strengths and vulnerabilities pulled me in from the beginning and encourages me to continue this adventure by her side. This has inspired me to read Sarah Bailey's previous novel with this character and any more in the future.
