Sarah Bailey has yet again, succeeded expectations, in her second novel, the sequel to The Dark Lake!

I read Bailey's debut novel, The Dark Lake, when it was released last year and it was needless to say that I loved it, and this book followed that same path.

Into The Night is a book which focuses on the life of Gemma Woodstock, a Melbourne based Detective. This time, she is investigating the death of the movie star, Sterling Wade, who I imagine has the same effect on people as Colin Firth does. A massive one.

Just like her previous book, this one was such an easy read once I actually sat down and had the time to read it. I read about 200 pages in one sitting, which is something that I rarely do these days. It takes a certain book to capture my attention so intensely. Well done Sarah Bailey, props to you!

I'm not one who enjoys recapping what the book was about in my review just in case someone who hasn't read it reads it and spoils it for themselves, then I'd feel bad for being at fault, but I do think that the way that the killer was revealed was quite speedy which makes me question it in some way. I know that there are some cases in life which get solved quickly but I rarely see a murder case get solved so quick. I feel like this reveal was much quicker than it was in The Dark Lake and I think this is a good thing in it's own way as it shows us readers that Bailey knows that every police case is different.

One thing I really enjoy about the layout of Bailey's books is that each chapter is named with a date and time so it isn't at all difficult to piece together when things happen in her books.

If my calculations are correct, judging from the time between this novel and The Dark Lake, we should (hopefully) be hearing more book news from Sarah at the beginning of 2020, February, maybe? Here's to hoping, I really cannot wait to read more of her work.
