This book is not like books I usually read but I thought I’d give it a try.

London born Angelika has been intrigued by her mothers secret past and decides to visit her dying grandmother to hear the story of her past - a story of horror and courage.
The best chapters in this book are those that tell the history of what happened in Crete, I just did not want to put the book down during these, it is a well told story that is full of emotions and at times hard to read as parts are very sad and heartbreaking.
The present chapters I found were not so gripping for me and it was definitely the story being told in the story that kept me turning pages.
I would not have known about the history of Crete during WW2 if I hadn’t of read this book, after finishing this story I now want to find out more about what happened In Crete during WW2.
