Not what I expected

At first, I was very excited, because the cover made me feel like the book would be set in a cafe, and I have a very, very soft spot in my heart for books with plots that are linked to a local independent business, especially if it is a cafe.

I found it very interesting that such a big part of the exempt was focused on a cat, but it definitely helped get me more interested during the first pages of the story.

What I don't appreciate is how the first parents communicate with the children. As someone with younger siblings, I cannot imagine them acting as naive as they are in this text. The communication of (and with) the 11-year old daughter reminded me more of a communication of 5-8 year olds. Does she have some mental health or development issues that have not been disclosed? If not, the magic of the book feeling real is lost on me. No, the mentioned innocence does not seem to justify it for me.

However, I have to say that the last few pages were a big surprise, and while I don't understand yet why it is important to the story, it has definitely got me intrigued.
