This was a very entertaining book which I raced through and didn't want to put down. It is packed full of characters I loved and some that I loved to hate and the central mystery of the plot kept me hooked to the end.

The tone and nature of the story is very reminiscent of Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty combined with the humour of the BBC series Motherland. As a fan of both of those, this book was right up my street.

From the opening pages of the book we know that a character has been found dead and there are short chapters with police interview transcripts from their investigations interwoven with the main plotline which leads up to this tragic event. We mainly follow Beverley, an insufferable mother, who is the ringleader of The Lakers, a parent committee responsible for organsing events at Glass Lake school that their children attend. A scandal involving Beverley's daughter threatens to unravel Beverley's carefully curated image of perfection and we follow her desperate struggles to hold it all together.

This was a really enjoyable book to escape into and frequently made me laugh out loud. I will definitely be picking up more books by Eithne Shortall in the future.

Thank you to Readers First for the copy of this book.
