I liked this book from the start, I can’t say my childrens school has ever been like this one we all know someone like at least one of “the lakers”
The story surrounds Arlo and his family after the crash that killed one of his best friends (Mike) and seriously maimed the other (Leo) but all is not how we are lead to believe around that. The small village of cooney is rather close knit and it seems everybody has a grievance against the whiteheads because of the crash, saying horrible things and even going has far has spitting at them in the street.
The story’s other focus is the school green lake and the parents (the lakers) group who seem to think they run the school because of their involvement and fundraising , Beverly is very much in the front seat of this group and the others seem the worship her and what says , does and want !!
A good read but a few mistakes towards the end of the book from the editing team
