Thank you to Readers First and to the publisher Corvus for giving me a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Set in a small town called Glass Lake, the book opens in the local police station, where the parents of the children from the nearby primary school are being questioned following the discovery of a body in the lake, whose identity we don’t discover until the very end of the book, which ties up all the loose ends beautifully.
The main character is Beverley Franklin, who is heavily involved with the parent’s group in the primary school.
The focus of the book is set around the upcoming musical at the school, which is set to be televised, with pushy parents wanting starring roles for their children.
When Beverley’s daughter Amelia is caught up in a sexting scandal involving a boy at the school, Beverley obviously wants to protect her daughter but also wants to keep the musical going ahead as it is under threat due to the dual whammy of the body’s discovery and the phone scandal.
I found the story gripping and well plotted, although some of the characters were hard to like, but I think that was the author’s intention!
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.
