If you’re after a thriller that will keep you turning pages with the sensation that you just can’t quite read it fast enough then this is THE ONE! I read this over 2 days. I know that doesn’t sound that impressive but when I say I have two children under three and I am a stay at home Mummy then hopefully you’ll realise just how gripping this one was! It wasn’t always the easiest to read. Some of the subjects brooched by the book are rather gritty and unpalatable so maybe stay away if you aren’t used to thrillers that fall into that camp- for those of us that are then I think you will enjoy devouring ‘Jar of Hearts’. I couldn’t work out how it was going to end; the twists and turns along the way pulling me in all sorts of directions. Having said that the ending was satisfying- my only criticism would be maybe it was a little too neat? I’ve read a lot of thrillers over time and it takes A LOT for one to stand out. For me Jar of Hearts hasn’t quite made it into my thrillers hall of fame or been given the full 5 stars purely because I’m not sure how memorable it will be- I guess time will tell. I would be tempted to seek out more from Jennifer Hillier though and would encourage thriller fans to read it as just because I might not stay with me doesn’t mean I didn’t wholly enjoy the ride whilst I was on it!
