At the beginning of the novel, Geo is in court awaiting trial for acting as an accessory in her best friend, Angela's, murder years ago. We accompany her to jail as she serves her 5 year sentence for the crime. During this time we learn about Geo's teenage relationships with her boyfriend - the convicted killer Calvin, Angela and Kaiser who has now become the police detective to investigate the crimes and arrests Geo.
When Geo is released from prison, things take a darker turn as more bodies start to turn up in Geo's home town; murders which have the same MO as Angela's death.
To say anymore would probably give too many spoilers, so I will stop there. I actually thoroughly enjoyed this book, the characters were very believable - especially the teenage relationship between Geo and Angela. Geo was a naïve and vulnerable girl who found herself in an abusive and dangerous love affair. Calvin was also a well drawn character.
I felt the ending was a little contrived and I wasn't too keen on Geo's romance later in the book but I am probably being a little too picky. Hillier is an excellent writer who kept me guessing and had me invested in the outcome of the story to the very end.
