This is a fast paced action thriller which defies credulity.
Morgan Vine is a 39 year old free lance journalist who investigates possible miscarriages of justice. In this book (the second in the series) Morgan takes on the case of Anjelica who is in prison for murdering Karl, the father of her baby. While trying to prove that Karl is still alive, Morgan and her 20 year old daughter, Lissa, become involved in so many unlikely and contrived scenarios that it became increasingly difficult to take the book seriously. The storyline might work better as a screenplay.
The overuse of clichés in the book became tedious to read and I really didn't need to have the wildlife of Dungeness beach listed on three separate occasions.
