This book was a harrowing insight into the mind of someone who has lost someone they loved in a horrible way and their descent into madness. The depression, the apathy and the hate would all resonant from someone who has experienced this kind of loss.
I really liked how the novel was written in Michael’s first person as it really gave the reader an insight into his thoughts and how his mind deteriorated. Also it was a nice twist that the reader did not know that Michael’s wife was still alive right until the end and it helped the reader empathise with him.
In this day and age with the terrorism that is occurring too often, this is a really poignant read and unfortunately would now be relatable to far too many people.
Well done Anthony Good
