A recently picked up a copy of this novel for a bargain price, just before the release of Asia McKay's Follow-up 'The Nursery', expecting it to be something up my alley, and I wasn't wrong.

We're introduced to Alexis Taylor 'Lex' a new mother struggling to cope with managing her daughter Gigi, her husband Will and a return to work.
On the face of it nothing particularly special there, however Lex's work isn't in Government data analysis, she is a trained assassin for Platform 8, the darker side of the security services.

And no one, not even her family knows.

This is such a brilliant concept and a really enjoyable book. The characters really come to life and the story moves at a great pace whilst juggling serious spy thrills with mundane family amusement.

As the Novel progresses I felt I had a good grasp on the characters and what made them tick, and that the story is very well written. It's great how the general family life and assassin action is blended so well and it seemed like a very modern read.

The story itself focuses on the Assassination of a Russian billionaire who must be killed quickly to stop the sale of his company, but that's not as easy as it sounds and naturally Lex has to use her newborn as part of a cover story to get to the bottom.

I highly recommend this book and it's sequel as a great action spy thriller wrapped up in a different premise and the odd bit of humour.
