Teen fantasy sleuthing
This is a book aimed at youths, a USA Tesco value famous five or secret seven. It’s also a sequal, although the author fills you in on what happened previously. All of the characters seem to have strange names, Seneca, Maddox, Dettox... ok maybe not Dettox, but they make me Cringe. The writing is in a simplified North American vein, so easy to read, which works with the fast pace high action introduction. The writer should have done a little more research on running, a flaw in the understanding Of the use of sports gels. But this will only jar the rhythm if you you let it. The main negative is that Its hard to sympathise with the characters for their parents having named them so weirdly, after all they should have been bullied at school. However the bullying never seems to have happened, as they have enormous self righteous egos, and you can’t help but hope more of them get kidnapped or otherwise get put asunder as you turn the pages. This book needs less pesky do gooders, there are bad characters, but these are quite single dimensional, I’m not a fan of these characters at all. This book would be a quick read, then recycle.
