I read two-three books a week and my main genre is crime. I picked this book up last year in the library as I cover enticed me in and the blurb sounded like a typical crime book I’d enjoy.
However I got about 30 pages in and it was a chore to even get that far.
I found the writing style quite choppy and difficult to keep up with or engage with the plot, which is usually something you’d see midway through a poorly written book, not in the few first few chapters.
I hate to leave a negative review as I’ve seen positive reviews on Goodreads too about this book, however personally for me it has been listed on the abandon pile as I just couldn’t get into it. I wouldn’t write it off to giving it another chance but as someone who is normally hooked and a quarter of the way through a book in the first few hours from starting, this wasn’t up there in that league.
